The umbilical cord of the Atlantic ocean

Moliets-et-Maa is a commune in south-western France, located in the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It is picturesquely lodged in close proximity to the Basque Country, Spain, and the Pyrenees, providing a landscape full of glorious natural splendor.

The Huchet Beach of Moliets is an amazing and unusual spot where the pond of Léon runs into the Moliets Atlantic Ocean, curving between sand dunes, bird sanctuaries, and verdant pines. The unbelievable natural patterns, hues, and shapes around the beach from what we might call the umbilical cord of the Atlantic Ocean, but also the umbilical cord between dreams and reality; between people and nature; between where you are and where you need to be.

The vibrant nature around the Huchet Beach

The area surrounding the Huchet Beach of Moliets is actually a Natural Reserve, and indeed a very gem-loaded one. In what we call the Nature Reserve of the Courant d’Huchet, you will be able to celebrate a quite vigorous assembly of animate and inanimate nature at its finest.

The narrow stream connecting the pond of Léon with the Atlantic Ocean might be the most famous sight around, with its curving rivulet and delicate transparent waters. This is where you can stand between the pond and the ocean, watching them slowly assimilate each other and merge into an otherworldly blue paradise.

To build up the prospect, there you will also notice a bird haven, seashore pine forests, tranquil marshes, wetlands, and golden sands stretching for kilometers before your eyes.

What is there to see and to do around Huchet Beach?

As you can already imagine, this is a quite atmospheric place, where you can engage mostly in enjoying yourself and the world you happened to live in.

Sunbathing and swimming are among the most widely spread practices around, as the place itself is very welcoming to making you feel peaceful and untroubled.

Anyway, hardcore action lovers and adrenaline seekers can engage in various organized activities around the area. Some of them include:

  • Hiking the marked trails around Nature Reserve of the Courant d’Huchet;
  • Riding a bike around the beaches, forests, and natural paths around;
  • Surfing and kitesurfing;
  • Boogie boarding and kayaking;
  • Sailing on the Leon Lake or the channel connecting it to the Atlantic Ocean;
  • Signing up for the famous Moliets golf course;
  • Strolling and running in a natural surrounding;
  • Going for a photo-hunt with your handheld device, professional camera, or drone… Just like we did.

All in all, Huchet Beach is a place to re-explore. Re-explore Europe as we know it, re-explore nature as we remember it, and re-explore leisure as it was supposed to be before urbanism ever happened.

Because such kind of re-exploration will be worth your while.
