La Ferme aux crocodiles, or The Crocodile Farm, is ready to welcome you in the Pierrelatte commune, located in the Drôme region of south-eastern France. Reado to take off?
At the beginning of the 90s, over 300 Nile crocodiles were imported from South Africa to France. Since then, their reproduction has been managed and monitored in order to prevent overpopulation.
Special climate conditions were created for the crocodiles to feel good and have a high quality of life, similar to their genetic environment. The result? Europe’s largest wildlife park, where more than 600 animals live freely amongst exotic plants and extended authentic flora and fauna.
Ferme aux Crocodiles, along with its inhabitants, is open to the public and ready to take you exploring some of the fascinating species residing in France!
When entering The Crocodile Farm, you will be free to choose between various facilities to explore and experience. Among them are:
All of them are conveniently placed and thoroughly pointed out on the reserve’s plan, which you will see upon arrival.
Along with everything else, The Crocodile Farm also offers several fun and entertaining educational activities for people of all ages, children, and students. For example, these are animation projections, talks, shows, exhibitions, and special lectures that explain the nature and specifics of the species residing in the nature reserve.
The entertainment program is regularly updated on the Farm’s official website and accessible for all visitors worldwide.
The Crocodile Farm is open all year round, seven days a week, including Sundays and official holidays. Pets are not let in, but there is a special place where they will be taken care of, in case you came along with your pal.
When touring through the site, you will be guided by professional naturalists and furtherly accompanied by numerous explanatory posters, also written in Braille.
The park is accessible for buggies and wheelchairs, thus a perfect destination for people with reduced mobility, children, and elderly citizens.
An average visit to the park is estimated to last between 2 to 2 and a half astronomical hours, needed for all facilities to be thoroughly explored.
