The glassy waters and gorgeous landscapes of Verdon

The Lake of Sainte-Croix, or lac de Sainte-Croix, is a human-made lagoon created following the construction of the Dam of Sainte-Croix – a strengthened concrete dam on the Verdon River, France.

Ever since it was completed in 1974, the lake fascinates large groups of tourists, leisure connoisseurs, and nature lovers. First were the locals, followed by many other French citizens, until nowadays – when the Lake of Sainte-Croix is famous all around Europe and even beyond.

The Lake of Sainte-Croix – location and further details

The Lake of Sainte-Croix is located in southeastern France, between Var and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. There are only three villages with immediate access to the lake’s shores – these are Bauduen, Les Salles sur Verdon, and Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon.

These little French gems often offer excellent holiday accommodation options, including various campings, hotels, and bed and breakfast apartments.
